I Will Not Be Quiet

I will not be quiet about depression

Depression is real. How do I know that you ask? I know that because I have battled depression since 2011. Yep, that’s right…me.

Depression does not care who you are, how much money you have, or what type of home life you grew up in.
Depression does not care if you were the captain of your sports team or valedictorian in high school.
Depression does not care if you got a full ride to the college of your choice.
Depression does not care if you turn to drugs and alcohol and end up on the streets.
Depression does not care if you are the worship leader at your church.
Depression does not care if you are in the best shape of your life or the worst shape.

It…does…not…care.
Depression is real.

Depression doesn’t just want to suck life out of you, it wants to take life from you.

I am over the stigma that it has in our world today. I am over the stigma it has in our churches today. I am over the stigma it has with so many people today.

Depression is real. Do you want to know what depression does to people? It sucks the life out of you. It constantly punches you in the head and the gut with the worst possible thoughts about yourself. It tells you that you are not enough, and you never will be enough.

Depression tells you that every second, of every minute, of every day. It wants to beat you down until it has you convinced you are not needed here on this earth…period…Depression doesn’t just want to suck the life out of you….it wants to take your life from you.

Depression is real and we cannot be quiet about it anymore. If we continue to stay quiet, then depression wins. There are too many who have lost their lives to depression because of the silence. There are too many who are struggling in silence today believing they have to fake it til they make it…well, you can only fake it so long.

I know that the voice of depression tells you to just leave this earth because you are a burden. I heard it in 2011 and it scared me.

I know if you are reading this right now, depression is telling you to hide and not tell anyone. It is telling you to not ask for help. It is telling you that people will think you are crazy and stop loving you if they know you are struggling with this. It is telling you that you are a burden to everyone. It is telling you that you have failed God and that He is mad at you.

Can I tell you something from personal experience???

Yes, depression is real…BUT…it is also a big fat liar!!

Those who love you WILL NOT think you are crazy! Those who love you WILL NOT think you are a burden! Those who love you WILL NOT think the lies that depression tells you they think! There are doctors and counselors out there who want to help you…who can help you.

More than anything, I want to tell you this:

You are not a failure in God’s eyes. God is not mad at you. God loves you. God does, in fact, have a purpose and a hope for YOU…yes friend…YOU.

He loved me through my depression. He was in the pit with me. He put people and help me. He put the light back in my eyes.

He also told me to help others because He wants you to know, He will do this for YOU.

So, if talking about my story and what I have been through with depression, even anxiety, makes you uncomfortable, then scroll on pass what I post or say.

I cannot be disobedient to what God has called me to do. There are too many people out there who need to know they are not alone and that there really is HOPE!

I Will Not Be Quiet

So…I will not be quiet.
You are worth it to not be quiet.
If it will help one…I will not be quiet.
If it will help you…I will not be quiet.

We can’t be quiet anymore.
