Is It Over Yet?

I don’t know if you are aware of this, but there is an election happening in the United States. . .Oh wait, are you like me and wondering if it is over yet?
I must confess-the division, fear-mongering, hatred, and all the negative news media conversations have really made me exhausted. It has almost become a place where adults cannot agree to disagree or talk about issues important to them without getting “canceled”.
I had to change some things to get me through this season. I hope these tips may help you:
1. Stop Doomscrolling-this is totally a thing! It is where a person constantly looks for the news story, the negative story, and scrolls until they find it. Don’t play social media’s game with this any longer! Step away from the negative vibes.
2. Remember your friends have always been your friends. You were not friends because of your political views. Don’t let the media or anyone else tell you that you can’t be friends because you have a difference of opinion. They are your tribe not the talking heads at 9pm EST every night.
3. Have an Election Day Plan. What wil you do after you vote? Have a plan. It could be getting work done. Have a game night with your kids. It’s Tuesday and tacos are always good on Tuesday! Having a plan keeps you from mindlessly checking results hour upon hour filled with stress and anxiety because you can’t control the outcome.
4. Pray. I know this is the last tip, but I believe the most important. God has got this. He has always been in control and He always will be in control. No political party out ranks Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us we can trust in Him and He will make our paths straight. 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us to humble ourselves, pray, seek Him and turn from our wicked ways, He will forgive us and heal our land. I am so thankful for His Word of Truth.
Look to Him.
Trust Him.
Tomorrow, eat a taco and go on with your life looking for ways to love God and love people.
